Slide notes: A General Ledger is a set of Accounts or list of Accounts used in Accounting for keeping track of all the financial transactions of the enterprise. The Chart of Accounts and the General Ledger are the same list of Accounts, with emphasis on the one for structure and design and emphasis on the other for functional use.

Slide notes: The General Ledger is at the very heart of a Financial system. In IES, we see extensions beyond the norm for the Chart of Accounts and the General Ledger, with the GL being multi-dimensional and able to accommodate up to 36 Ledgers, each with a different Chart structure.

The IES GL also tracks more than just Financials, and includes Physicals and Key Performance Indicators as well.  Furthermore, the GL is fully and seamlessly integrated to all Sub Ledgers in real-time, with all Sub Ledgers automatically balancing to Control Accounts in the Ledger, and no additional posting to GL being required at any time.
